The Project

When EMU Food Services took over part of the student union to install an herb garden, our office took on the challenge to create permanent signage. The designer for the project, Anna Helland, took inspiration from art nouveau-style typography and the organic nature of plants. Visibility of the sign was difficult due to the color and intricacy of the design, but its scale (4 × 6 feet) ensured that it wouldn’t be lost even in the garden’s growth. Both the photo and illustration were done by the designer.
