When EMU Food Services took the initiative to help students find coffee locations on campus, our office began by creating visual mapping of ten on campus cafes. Since many students work clear into the night and need to stay caffeinated, our goal was to highlight locations open past 5 o’clock as well as those open on weekends. The challenge was organizing the information to make it easy to read when rushing to your next location. The designer for the project, Tana Sollars, took inspiration from infographic designs, utilizing a similar format as well as icons, to create easy to read visual content.
