STORY: Oregon Men’s Basketball Defeats San Francisco 74-64, Moves to 5-1

Oregon Men’s Basketball looked impressive on most of Thursday night, defeating San Francisco 74-64. The story of this game was the stellar defense from the Ducks, holding USF to just 37% shooting, 23% from three, and forcing 14 turnovers. After a slow start trailing the first 9:16 of the game, Oregon held USF to 5:37 scoring to stretch the lead. By halftime, the Ducks led 41-31. It carried over to the second half as well, where USF didn’t score for the first 5 minutes and 46 seconds. Oregon continued to dominate throughout most of the second half before USF made things interesting at the end of the game. Oregon’s largest lead of 18 was cut down to as little as 6 points in the final minutes of the game, but the Ducks prevailed.

The Ducks were without a clear top scorer for most of the game but shot 45% as a team. Oregon dominated in the paint, out-scoring the Dons 42 to 28 and out-rebounding the Dons 39 to 35. Eugene Omoruyi led the team with 19 points, closely followed by Eric Williams, who had 16 points. If there was a negative in this game for the Ducks, it would be the somber 21% from three.

With the win, Oregon moves to 5-1 and San Francisco drops to 5-4 on the season. Oregon will host the Portland Pilots on Saturday, December 19th with tip-off at noon.
